Simon Whalley is a respected music lecturer and composer who most recently engaged with the Church of Saint Mary the Virgin in New York as music director and organist. Prior to that, he was director of music and a fellow with Oxford University’s Keble College. Simon Whalley facilitated a variety of live and broadcast performances and undertook instruction in areas such as musical analysis and orchestration. He oversaw the Organ Scholars and the Chapel Choir, and ensured a uniformly high quality of liturgical music.

Mr. Whalley completed his master’s of studies in musicology at Oxford University in the early 1990s and accepted a role as director of music and housemaster with Christ Church Cathedral School in Oxford. His musical leadership experience extends to directorial roles at St George’s School at Windsor Castle and with Eton College’s Lower Chapel.

Mr. Whalley has a passion for the arts and enjoys travel that gives him the opportunity to explore new galleries, museums, plays, and classical concerts. Simon Whalley has spent significant time in New York and enjoys visiting cultural institutions such as the Metropolitan Opera and the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
